Devin Joseph Delp

June 22, 2004 January 29, 2024

Devin Joseph Delp, 19, of Waterloo, passed into Heaven peacefully while being called home by God, on Monday, January 29, 2024, while a patient at MercyOne Waterloo Hospital. He was born in Waverly, IA on June 22, 2004, the son of Kelly Delp. Devin had a lifetime of medical challenges and went to school at River Hills School in Cedar Falls.

Devin was a happy young man who appreciated the things most people take for granted. He loved the breeze, watching it flow through the sheets drying on a clothesline or rustling through the flag. He enjoyed motion, lights, and the stars. Devin enjoyed swinging and spending time on the farm, especially around the barn. His favorite characters were Mickey Mouse and Elmo and loved “The Wheels on the Bus” song. He especially loved time with his mom, rocking and being sung to while holding her hand. Devin knew he was loved by everyone who knew him.

Devin is survived by his mother, Kelly Delp of Waterloo, brother Ethan Delp Smith of Waterloo, grandparents Kari and Tom Hamrick of Cedar Falls, and great-grandmother Karon Schmidt of Greene, IA. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather Robert Schmidt.

A Celebration of Devin’s life will be Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, from 6-8 pm. Online condolences may be expressed at lockefuneralservices.com. Memorials should be directed to the family.
