Josiah “Jay” James Bracken

Josiah "Jay" James Bracken, 44, of Waterloo, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at his home in Waterloo.

He was born on July 26, 1979, in Waterloo, to Steven and Lynn Schuler Bracken. Jay was a 1997 graduate of Waterloo West High School and attended UNI. He was the Senior Vice President of Security Compliance at VGM.

Jay enjoyed watching and rooting for the Chicago Cubs and Miami Dolphins. He loved spending his time traveling and playing golf with friends.

Jay is survived by his mother, Lynn (James) Gehrke of Waterloo, and father, Steven (Vicki) Bracken of East Dubuque, IL; one brother, Joshua (Kristy Eichenberger) Bracken of Waterloo; step-brother, Eric Murphy of Des Moines; step-sister, Michelle Bechen of Dubuque; friend and favorite adventure companion, Lori Treloar of Waterloo; lifelong friends: Steve Haley, Adam Anderson, Jeremy High, Jeremy Heller, James Degenhardt, Chris Weichman, and Zach Davis; and a large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; and one brother, Brad A. Bracken.

Celebration of Life Services: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, with a time of sharing starting at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society.
