Steven Scott Elliott, 75 of Waterloo, died January 1, 2025. He was born on July 29, 1949, in Waterloo, the son of Merle Eugene and Grace L. (Stansbury) Elliott. He graduated from Orange Township High School in 1967. He continued his education at Hawkeye earning his certificate in Robotics. Steve served in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge.

He married Mary Lee Smith on October 2, 1971, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. She died June 8, 2016.

In 2005, Steven and Dan Diehl founded Cedar Industries, a parts manufacturing, full-service machine shop, systems integration and machine design.

He was a devoted father, Steven deeply loved his sons and took immense pride in his grandchildren, Owen, Lucas, Clark and Johnny, who brought him great joy. Known for his kindness and warm spirit. He touched the lives of all who knew him.

In his free time, Steven enjoyed pursuing his best-known passion of woodworking, as well as renovating multiple cars, fishing and spending time with family, which brought him much happiness. His gentle nature and love for family will be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his sons, Daniel (Heidi) Elliott of Victoria, MN and Benjamin (Laura) Elliott of Hopkins, MN; four grandchildren, Owen, Lucas, Clark, and Johnny; his mother, Grace Elliott of Waterloo; two brothers, Mike (Sheila) Elliott, and Kim (Annette) Elliott, both of Waterloo; two sisters, Markita Peterson of Waterloo, and Renee (Brian) Reynolds of Genoa, WI; two sisters-in-law, Sue (Eddie) Watkins of Waterloo and Frances Fox of Carmel, IN.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, Matthew; his dad, Merle; and brother-in-law, Leonard Peterson.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park.

Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00pm, Monday, January 6, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park.
