Patricia Ruth Neighbors

Patricia Ruth Neighbors passed away January 26, 2024 in Jefferson City, MO. She was born June 10, 1932 in Waterloo, IA (Black Hawk County) to George Saylor and Ruth Milliken. She formerly resided in Rickman TN and Waterloo, IA.

She graduated in 1950 from Waterloo West High School and worked as a bookkeeper for various firms in Waterloo, IA.

She married Harold Arnold Neighbors on March 26, 1953. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1983.

She attended church regularly her whole life. She was a lifelong member of Hammond Avenue Brethren church in Waterloo until she retired in Tennessee. She was an excellent baker and made wonderful pies. Her specialties were peach pie and banana cream pie. She baked many cookies and especially candy at Christmas including fudge and divinity. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making all kinds of clothing for her family. She enjoyed gardening and had many flowers and vegetables in her garden. After retirement, she began to crochet beautiful afghans which she gave to everyone in the family.

She is preceded in death by her parents George Saylor and Ruth Milliken, husband Harold Neighbors, brother Eldon Saylor, sister Dorothy Leggitt and brother-in-law Wendell Keller.

She is survived by her daughter Tanya (Bradley) Dill, son David (Dawn) Neighbors, her grandchildren Jessica (Brandon) Kenney, Tyler, Hunter and Reece Neighbors, sister-in-law Rhodora Saylor, brother Dick (Hedy) Saylor, sister Donna Keller and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo. Private burial will take place at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at www.LockeFuneralServices.com.
