Kimberly Sommer, 51, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 4, 2024. She was born on October 22, 1972, in Waterloo, to Timothy and Susan (Tharp) Hintz. Kim married Wesley Sommer on March 24, 2012, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Kim graduated from West High School in 1990. She worked as a surgical scheduling coordinator for Wolfe Eye Clinic for 27 years and was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale. In her free time, Kim always found joy in cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, following NASCAR races, and indulging in shopping trips and visits to craft sales. She cherished moments spent with her family and friends, whether it was baking, hosting parties, attending concerts, listening to live music, and traveling with her husband, Wes.

She is preceded in death by her mother; grandparents, Ben and Arlene Tharp and Leo and Rowena Hintz; mother-in-law, Evelyn Sommer; brother-in-law, Dave Parker; and her beloved dog, Mack.

Kim is survived by her husband, Wes Sommer of Waterloo; her father, Tim Hintz of Waterloo; father-in-law, Bud Sommer of Waterloo; many sisters and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and her newest fur baby, Axel.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with an additional visitation one hour prior on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4031 Lafayette Rd, Evansdale. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.

In leu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sommer family.
