Judy Jane Francis Medd, 83, of New Hampton, and formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 25, 2025, while a patient of UnityPoint Allen Hospital. Judy was born on December 9, 1941, in Sauk Centre, MN, the daughter of Raymond and Lucy Bellinger Francis. She married Robert Mast, and they later divorced. Judy then married Ronald Medd on November 25, 1974, in Cedar Falls. She worked as a cook at various places in Waterloo, including The Sweden House, West High Maid Rite and HeadStart.

Judy was a woman of strong faith and had a strong belief in family. She was a longtime volunteer with the Salvation Army and the food bank. Judy was loving, caring and supportive and valued time with her family. Judy was known to take you in if you were at a rough spot in your life. She collected knick-knacks to the point that it was an obsession. Judy enjoyed fishing, cooking, crocheting, a good cup of coffee, and singing, and was even known to make a joke or two to make you smile.

Judy is survived by her children, Wesley (Judith) Mast of Waterloo, Donald Mast of Washburn, Rebecca Beck of Reinbeck, Lisa (Joseph) Scott of Huxley and Jeffrey Medd of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha (Larry) Tichy of Reinbeck; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded by her husband, Ron; brothers Larry, Robert, and Donald Francis; her sister Betty Piercy; and a nephew Raymond Dumire.

Funeral services for Judy will be Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Locke Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave., Waterloo, with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
