Lois J. Johnson, 91, of Waterloo, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Green Prairie Rehab Center in Plainview, MN.

She was born on January 10, 1934, in Garwin, daughter of Joseph Jr. and Cora A. Mishler Peshel and graduated from Garwin High School in 1951 and attended the University of Northern Iowa. Lois married Robert L. "Bob" Johnson on May 23, 1969, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua; he preceded her in death on May 15, 2006. She worked as a data processor at Rath Packing, Iowa Securities, UNI and Viking Pump until her retirement.

Lois liked attending antique car shows with Bob. She was one of the first women to compete in the all-male sport of stockcar racing in Waterloo. Lois was a huge fan of the Waterloo Bucks baseball team and frequently attended games, enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals on TV, and completing her word search puzzles.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, Waterloo for over 70 years. She volunteered for 28 years at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital gift shop and was active in many organizations over the years. Lois was a member of Business and Professional Women (BPW) of Iowa where she served as the financial secretary, Vice President, and President. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Waterloo AMVETS and FOE Auxiliary.

Lois is survived by her three daughters, Janice Kafer of MN, Kathleen Leyen of Waterloo, Teresa (Vern) Gage of Elk Run Heights, and a son, Todd Johnson of CA; a stepson, Rick (Leslie) Johnson; step daughter-in-law, Shelly Johnson; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and a stepsister, Karen (Duane) Speicher of Cedar Rapids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a granddaughter, Allison Anderson; a grandson, Ryan Johnson; stepson, Alan Johnson; two sons-in-law, Christopher Kafer and Alberto Luis Real; three brothers; a sister; and two sisters-in-law.

Visitation: 5-7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 29 at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th St., Waterloo.

Funeral Services: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 30 at First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, 608 West 4th St., Waterloo with visitation for an hour before the service with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Waterloo.
