Duane Alvin Whitis

Duane A. Whitis, 52, of Davenport, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.

Duane was born on November 30, 1971, to Duane Alvis Whitis and Sondra Kay Seals in Waterloo. He graduated from North High School in Davenport in 1990 and worked for the City of Rock Island Public Works and The City of Davenport.

Duane's greatest passion was family, music, cars, and movies. He made sure that he had every new movie; his favorite movie was Beverly Hills Cop and Colors and loved the TV show Meet the Brown's. Duane touched the lives of everyone he met, he always had a good heart, spirit, and attitude. He loved to crack jokes, make people laugh, and help family and friends. Duane was a person you loved to see coming down the street, because he was going to brighten up your day. He touched the lives of so many people he will never be forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, and his aunt, Vicky Seals-Sanders.

Duane leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Devin DeShan Patrick Luskey of Davenport; brothers, Delario F. Skipper of Marian, and Julien M. Skipper of Davenport; uncles, Larry (Roxanne) Seals, Jr. and Robert Horton both of Davenport; aunt, Tina Seals of Davenport; and a host of cousins that loved him.

We all love you and you will be deeply missed, Duane.

Visitation and Funeral Service: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral at 11:00 a.m. Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery-Waterloo.
