Diana J. Gruver, 79, of Waterloo, died on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
She was born on March 15, 1946, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Lafayette and Lucile (Bowie) Stout. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1964. She received her registered nursing degree from Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN, also in 1964. She married Roger V. Gruver on August 18, 1973, in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on November 23, 1981.
Diana was a registered nurse for 40 years, working at Sartori Memorial Hospital and Schoitz Hospital before working at the Denver Sunset Home. She retired from nursing in 2004.
She was a member of St. Timothys United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls where she taught Sunday School. At one time, she was also a cub scout den leader. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and spending time antiquing and shopping garage sales.
Diana is survived by her son Mark (Sally Paczosa) Gruver of Chicago; a sister, Marsha Sanders of Shell Rock; a brother, Steven (Barb) Sanders of Oelwein; two sisters-in-law, Noreen Stout of Desoto, and Barb Sanders of Waterloo; and a brother-in-law, Arno Fabbro of Waverly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; step-mother, Margaret Sanders Stout; two sisters, Nettie Carol Stout, and Linda Fabbro; and two brothers, William “Bill” Stout, and Gary Sanders.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Diana’s name to Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging (NEI3A). NEI3A is near and dear to the family as their services helped her stay independent. Locke at Tower Park is assisting the family. Locke at Tower Park, 319-233-3146.
