Donna Elizabeth Murray

Donna Elizabeth Murray

October 18, 1948 July 16, 2024

Donna Elizabeth Murray, age 75, was called to the Lord on July 16, 2024. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in her cherished home of over 22 years. Donna’s courageous battle against cancer is a testament to her incredible strength and resilience and is an inspiration to us all.

Donna was born at the Presbyterian Hospital on October 18, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa. She was the beloved daughter of Don D. Murray and Elizabeth (Betty) Duhn Murray. She spent her childhood in Cedar Falls with her older brother, Virgil, and her younger sister, Beckie. Donna’s immense faith guided her daily as a devoted Christian, living through Christ and sharing His love with all. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, navigating challenges and joys. Donna graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1967. Although she tried college, God’s plans for her led her elsewhere.

Donna has held many jobs throughout her life, where she met many lifelong friends. However, she found her true calling working for Pioneer Graphics and eventually owned her own graphic design business, Print Connection. Her creative talents and keen eye for detail brought happiness to her customers, and she took great pride in making others feel special, professionally and personally. Donna retired from Print Connection on August 1, 2021.

Donna’s unwavering love for family and friends, including lifelong companion Sally, was a testament to her caring nature. Though she did not marry or have children, she found joy and strength in other relationships, always ensuring their needs were met.

Her love for cats, especially Emma, Addie Mae, and Karen’s cat Gracie, brought her immense happiness. Donna’s vibrant spirit shone through in her passion for collecting all things Coca-Cola and her zest for life, which included traveling to Florida, cherishing the sunshine, and collecting seashells. As a devoted member and teacher of Awana at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, she shared her adventures and love with her community

Donna is survived by her brother Virgil (Nel) Murray of Bellevue, Iowa, four nephews, one niece, and 21 great-nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents, Don D. Murray and Elizabeth (Betty) Duhn Murray, and her sister Beckie Murray.

A funeral service to celebrate Donna’s life will be held on Monday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m., with lunch to follow at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the family, who will distribute them according to Donna’s wishes.

Everyone who knows Donna will miss her dearly. Her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. In her honor, the family encourages everyone to enjoy the sunshine, laugh often, build a relationship with the Lord, and pick up seashells as Donna did.

Donna would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who supported her throughout her life, especially those who cared for her in her final months. Special thanks to Sally, Sarah, Joan, Barb, and the Walnut Ridge Baptist Church community, and everyone who brought food, cut grass, cleaned, offered prayers, and lifted her up in the love and grace of God.
