Dennis Leroy Moore, 82, of Waterloo passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024 surrounded by family.

Dennis was born December 15, 1941 in Burlington, Iowa, to Tiny and Marge Moore. He grew up in Fayette, IA, and moved to Waterloo in 1957 where he graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1960. Denny attended Upper Iowa and UNI. During those years he met the love of his life, Margot "Peg" Kieler. Together they took "Instructions" for Denny to become Catholic which laid their faith foundation. They were married August 10, 1963 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo, IA.

Denny worked at John Deere for 2 years before making his life changing decision to join the Waterloo Fire Department. Denny worked through the ranks for 31 years until he retired as Battalion Chief in 1997. He loved his career but loved his faith and family "Moore".

Denny and Peg have been faithful members of Blessed Sacrament for over 55 years. Together they raised 4 children. Attending ball games, school plays and concerts, fishing and hunting trips, family vacations and get-togethers, golf, grandkids and great-grandkids were his true passions.

Denny is survived by his wife Peg; son Mike (Tammy) Moore; daughter Christy Moore (Steve Kammeyer); son Doug (Paula) Moore, all of Waterloo, and daughter Cathy (Todd) Weidman of Janesville; 9 grandchildren: Tony, Aaron, Austin, Natalie, Samantha, Megan, Grace, Marie and Madeline; 8 great grandchildren: Jaxon, Jaycee, Jager, Hazel, Nora, Harlow, Eliza and Beau; brothers: Ray Moore of Waterloo, Rick (Teddi) Moore of La Porte City, Kevin (Amy) Moore of Cedar Rapids; and sisters Donna (Mike) Murphy of Harrison, AR, and Delores (Merle) Bush of Harpers Ferry, IA.
