Jim James Carroll

Jim Carroll, 72, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.

He was born February 5, 1952, in Waterloo and was raised by his step-father and mother, Leonard and Thelma (Mixdorf) Watson. He graduated from Orange High School in 1971.

Jim married Karen L. Knapp on November 15, 1974, in Belvidere, IL; she preceded him in death on June 7, 2019.

He was an assembly worker at John Deere for 34 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of UAW Local 838. He enjoyed camping at the river with his wife, and spending time with his granddaughters.

Jim is survived by his two children, Michael (Rebecca) Carroll of Woodbury, MN, and Tracy Carroll of Waterloo; two granddaughters, Ryan and Logan Carroll; two brothers, Raymond (Marilyn) Carroll of Jonesboro, AR, and Mike (Karen) Carroll of Waterloo; three step-sisters, Dawn (Tim) Cochran of Des Moines, Crystal (Dave) Mangrich of Jesup, and Yvette Arcand of Savage, MN; and two brothers-in-law, Donald (Brenda) Knapp of Evansdale, and Gary Mangrich of Gilbertville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a brother, Claude Carroll; a sister, Jeanne Mangrich; a step-sister, Deb Senteney; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Carroll; and two nephews, Brian Mangrich and John Carroll.

Memorial Services: 5:00 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, with a memorial visitation from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Locke at Tower Park.
