Brooke Emily Hartman

Brooke Emily Hartman, 45, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center of a pulmonary embolism. She was born February 23, 1979, in Waterloo, the daughter of Randall and Cynthia Rapp Hartman. She graduated from Union High School in La Porte City in 1998 and received her BA in Elementary Education from Upper Iowa University in 2008.

She worked for Cedar Valley Catholic Schools, where she was a 4th grade teacher at St. Edward Elementary School for the last 4 years. Brooke was not just an educator; she was a beacon of inspiration for her young students and a nurturing presence for her colleagues. Her commitment to fostering a love of learning was evident in every lesson she taught and every life she touched.

Brooke was a member of the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City. She enjoyed crafting and family trips throughout the years, most recently traveling to London and Paris this past summer on a 12-day “Girls Trip” with her mom, two sisters, and two nieces.

She is survived by her loving parents, Randy and Cindi Hartman of Hudson; two sisters, Heather Hartman-Long (Rob Long) of Waterloo and Tiffani Ingram of Austin, Texas; nieces and nephews, Rylie, Caden, Michael and Paige; and her faithful companion, her cocker spaniel, Goose.

Brooke is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Roger and Martha Hartman, and maternal grandparents, Robert and Grace Rapp.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2025, at the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City. Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701, and the hour before the service at the church. Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls.

In lieu of plants, flowers, and stones, memorials may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society or St Edward Elementary School.
