Donna May Collins

Donna May Hein Collins, 95, of Marshalltown, and formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, August 17, 2025, while a resident of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. She was born in Woonsocket, SD, on May 17, 1930, the daughter of Alvin Hein and Katheryn Thill Hein. Donna graduated from Alpena, SD high school in 1948 and served in the US Air Force from 1951-1953. She married William Collins on February 14, 1953, in Waterloo, and he died on March 8, 2013. The couple was blessed with two sons. Donna worked in customer service in banking.

Donna is survived by her sons, William Collins of Denver, IA and James (Lisa Shadow) Collins of Washburn, granddaughters Katie Collins of Bloomington, MN and Sara (Rob Petit) Collins of Burnsville, MN, great-granddaughter Issabella Werkmeister of Washburn, and many other family members and friends. She was preceded by her husband.

Funeral services for Donna will be Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:30 AM, and Zion Lutheran Church, 810 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, with burial with military honors to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be at Locke on 4th, 1519 W 4th St, Waterloo, on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions should be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
