Mona L. Lee Christie

Pastor Mona L. Christie, 69, of Cedar Falls, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Mona was born on April 27, 1956, in Waterloo to Laverna Bauer. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1974, where she was the class Valedictorian. Mona married Michael A. Christie at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls in 1981.

In her younger years, Mona’s family moved to Las Vegas, NV, where she worked in accounting at MGM. A mom to many, always willing to open her home to others, Mona ran an in-home daycare in her and Mike’s home in Hudson for many years. Devoted to her ministry, Pastor Mona was serving as the pastor of Alpha United Methodist Church and Hawkeye United Methodist Church for the last 13 years.

She is preceded in death by her mother, sister, Dorothy Work, mother and father-in-law, Frank and Emily Christie, and son in law, Jason “JJ” Chandler.

Pastor Mona is survived by her husband, Reverend Mike Christie of Cedar Falls; her children, Carrie Chandler of Waterloo, Sarah Christie, of Cedar Falls, Seth Christie of Independence, and Adam (Amanda) Christie of Cedar Falls; 6 grandchildren, Ayame, Marilyn, Akio, Mason, Olivia, and Orrin.

Memorial Gathering: Family to receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave. Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 p.m.
