Donald Albert Reuter

Donald Albert Reuter

August 25, 1957 May 25, 2025

Donald “Don” Albert Reuter, 67, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 25, 2025, while a patient at University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City. He was born in Waterloo on August 25, 1957, the son of Gerald and Norma Condon Reuter. Don graduated from Waterloo Columbus in 1975 and married Donna Christensen on January 15, 1983. The couple was blessed with three children and they later divorced. Don worked in the meat packing industry and retired in 2024.

Don never wanted anyone to fuss over him. He was a jokester to the end and could find the humor in literally anything. Don was a hard worker who liked what he liked and he didn’t really care what anyone thought. He was an Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Vikings fan and loved fishing and classic rock. Don would frequently break out in air guitar of his favorite song although he had terrible rhythm. Don attended school events for his children and grandchildren and stand in the back giving them the “thumbs up.” Don’s best buddies in the whole wide world were his grandchildren and above all else, DO NOT USE HIS FORK!

Don is survived by his children Lindsey (Domingo) Ramirez, and their children Lauren, Marianna, Dominic and Elijah, of Waterloo, Sam (Amber) Reuter, and their puppy Jack of Jesup and David (Rebecca Fredenburg) Reuter, and his children Olivia and Minerva, of Winnebago, IL; siblings, Mark (Karen) Reuter of Geneva, IA, Colleen Little of Newton, Barb (Mike) Lunde of Ankeny, Greg Reuter of Waterloo, and Mary Boysen of Elk River, MN; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dan, Brian and Jim Reuter, and brother-in-law Dave Little.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held Monday, June 2, 2025, from 4-7 PM, at Locke on 4th Street, 1519 W 4th Street, Waterloo. The family requests, in honor of Don, that you please wear either Hawkeye or Vikings apparel. Memorial contributions should be directed to the family.
