Arlyn Keith Engel, 91, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Arlyn was born on the family farm near Clarksville on June 9, 1934, to Rudolph A. and Vera H. (Grapp) Engel. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1952. Arlyn married Mavis M. Ubben on September 12, 1954, in Nashua.

Arlyn spent his career working as a Quality Engineer for John Deere, retiring after 33 years. He was also the owner of Cedar Falls Ice Co. He worked at Clay Equipment in Cedar Falls, Curtis Candy Farms in Cary, IL, DHIA Inspecter in Ames, and Auto Body in Hawkeye, IA.

He was a member of the UAW Local 838. Arlyn enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed racing, fixing cars, roller skating, antiquing and flea markets, and working on jigsaw puzzles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Galen Engel and Lyle Engel, and sister, Elda Kraft.

Arlyn is survived by his wife of 70 years, Maisy Engel of Cedar Falls; his sons, Doug Engel and Dan Engel; daughters, Deb (Bob) Pingel of Ames and Diane (Roger) Blakesley of Cedar Falls; siblings, Terry (Jolene) Engel and Vera Lee (Dick) Kraft both of Clarksville; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Cedar Valley Memorial Park in Cedar Falls.
