Phyllis Lane, 78, of Waterloo, died Friday, January 10, 2025, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics after a brief illness. She was born August 3, 1946, in Waterloo, daughter of Merle and Helene (Neuhoffen) Heath. She graduated from Columbus High School.

Phyllis married Quinton Lane on March 3, 1986, in Ocala, Florida. He preceded in death on February 1, 2010. Together they traveled the country and the world for Arabian Horse shows, showing and trading horses, and also selling beanie babies in the height of their popularity. Phyllis worked for AEA 7, and later for Home Instead. She also volunteered at local hospitals and ran the kitchen services at Nazareth Lutheran Church as a volunteer for many years.

She was a talented gardener, and as a result was skilled at canning. She also enjoyed baking and cooking, as well as working on jig saw puzzles and especially fishing.

Phyllis is survived by her son Justin Lane and his wife Andrea Lohf of Iowa City; her daughter, Roxanne (Michael) Garner of Arizona; her grandchildren Amber Garner and Garrett (Cayla) Garner; her sister Connie (Jim) Taylor and brothers Jimmy (Teresa) Heath and Leo (Jean) Heath.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Lane, her parents Merle and Helene Heath; brothers Donald, Richard, Joseph, and Kenneth Heath; and sisters Bernardine Nelsen, and Marlene Jeys.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, with a visitation prior from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
