Jack Edward Markussen

Jack Edward Markussen, 79, of Waterloo, passed away at his home with his wife by his side on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Jack was born on September 23, 1945, to Karl P. and Dorothy (Protheroe) Markussen in Cedar Falls. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1963 and went on to serve in the United States Army Reserves. Jack married Nancy Brown on June 28, 1971, in Freeport, Illinois. He worked for John Deere for 41 years at the Product Engineering Center, starting as a draftsman and retiring as a designer. He will be remembered for his talent for storytelling, and his love of fishing, driving and restoring cars, metal detecting, and watching Oakland/Los Angeles/Las Vegas Raiders football.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy Markussen of Waterloo; daughter, Julie (Marc) Markussen of Burbank, CA; brother Tom Markussen of Lansing, IA; and sister Sue (Bob) Thill of Cedar Falls.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo.
