Robert J. "Bob" Reisinger, 76, of Hiawatha and formerly of Waterloo, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, October 24, 2022. Bob was born in Waterloo on April 22, 1946, the son of Marvin and Gladys Engel Reisinger. He graduated from Orange High School in 1964 and attended the University of Northern Iowa until joining the United States Navy in 1967. Bob married Jackie Eastman in 1981 and he was blessed with three children.
While in the Navy, Bob served on the heavy cruiser, USS Canberra while in Vietnam. He also served as Administrative Assistant for the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, DC, and was honorably discharged in 1971.
Bob began a lifelong career in Real Estate in 1972. During that career, he owned Stokes-Reisinger Realtors, and served as the President and Executive Vice President of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Board of Realtors, where he retired in 2014. By his own admission, Bob did not handle retirement well, and sold real estate until 2018. He was active in the community serving as President of the Waterloo JCs in 1976 and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Board of Realtors in 1980. He also served on the Waterloo Board of Adjustment, Community Development Board and the Black Hawk County Board of Review. The highpoint of Bob's life was his family, especially his granddaughters. He also enjoyed woodworking and cooking.
Bob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jackie; his children, Chris (Carolyn Flaherty) Reisinger of Waterloo, Charles (Melissa) Reisinger of Seattle, WA, and Carrie (Alex) Moss of Hiawatha; granddaughters, Lauren (Kyle Morgan) Reisinger of Waterloo, Leah Reisinger of Waterloo, Autumn (Adrian Horras) Derifield of Cedar Falls and Summer Kramme of Waterloo; his brothers, Larry Reisinger and Jim (Kim) Reisinger; and many other family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Marsha, at birth, and his parents.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 28 at 10:30 AM at Locke on 4th, 1519 W. 4th Street, Waterloo followed with military rites by United States Navy and Evansdale AMVETS Post #31. The family will greet friends on Thursday, October27, 2022 from 4-6 PM at Locke on 4th.
