Jerold Q. “Jerry” Quentin Osmundson

Family services will be held 10:30 AM, April 27, 2024, at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th Street in Waterloo with inurnment in Waterloo Cemetery and military rites by Iowa Army National Guard Honor Guard, Sullivan Brothers VFW Post #1623 and Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138.

Memorials may be directed to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank or the Cedar Valley Hospice.

Jerold Q. "Jerry" Osmundson, 91, of Washburn, IA, died on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Jerry was born March 27, 1932, in Spring Grove, MN, the son of Jeremiah F. and Alma J. Quandahl Osmundson. He graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1950. Jerry served in the United States Army receiving an honorable discharge.

He married Joan C. Flatin on July 6, 1953, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove, MN. She died June 16, 2020. Together, they were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Washburn. He was also a member of the VFW.

Jerry worked as an over-the-road truck driver for most of his working career, retiring in 1990.

He is survived by his children: daughter Julie (Greg) Smith of Janesville, son Jay (Maria) of Mt. Auburn, daughter Janet (Phil) Boyenga of Waterloo, son Jeff (Carrie Bailey) of Ankeny, and son Joel (Terry) of Washburn; as well as 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan; grandson, Austin Osmundson; a brother, Richard; and five sisters: Jaerdis E. Olson Nesheim, Florence V. Thorson, Inez P. Sollien, Adele J. Burnett, and Sharon E. Schumacher.
