John Anderson Bowden, 87, of Masonville, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in Onalaska, WI.

John was born February 18, 1938, in Independence, Iowa, son of Arthur and Jennie Arletta (Basquin) Bowden. John graduated from Lamont High School in 1957. After high school, John worked on the family farm and later served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

Over the years after the service, he worked on the family farm and at Tyson's for 10 years. He retired in 2003. John married Yvonne Marie Fairholm in 1984 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein; She preceded him in death on June 5, 1997. He was a member of the American Legion in Lamont.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne; parents, Arthur and Jennie (Basquin) Bowden; brother, Dale Bowden; two sisters, Audrey Bowden and Jean Koohy; nephews, Harlen and Gaylen; great niece, Denise; and stepson, Randy Kimball.

John is survived by his family, niece, Karen (Ron) Anderson of Stockbridge, GA; six great nephews and nieces; step daughters, Christy LeBlanc and Lynne (Paul) Altimier; grandchildren, Katrina Breitkreutz (Randy), Kimberly Burtt, and Kelly Kasper Owens (Lynne), and Elizabeth Serauskas (Christy); and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, with military honors provided by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation to take place one hour prior to the services. Inurnment at Garden of Memories Cemetery-Waterloo to be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
