Dianne Kaye Moran, 75, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Allen Hospital. She was born in Waterloo, on August 18, 1949, the daughter of John and Marthana (Mosley) Dickinson. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1967. Throughout the years, she organized and co-chaired her high school reunions. Continuing her education, she graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Elementary Education and a MA in School Counseling.
On August 29, 1969, she married the love of her life, Bill Moran. They celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage, building a family, and a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished traditions. Dianne dedicated her life to loving and supporting her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was always their constant source of love, wisdom, and encouragement.
As a lifelong educator, Dianne, dedicated her career to shaping the lives of countless children and families. She ran her own preschool (Tadpoles, Frogs & Polywogs) for 13 years, and worked as an elementary teacher and guidance counselor for the Waterloo Community Schools, retiring in 2010. Her kindness and patience inspired both students and colleagues alike.
Dianne and Bill were long-time square dancers and are current co-vice presidents of the Northeast Iowa Square Dance Association. Dianne enjoyed bird watching, boating, and spending time on the beach at their summer home on Lake Delhi. She was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan rarely missing a chance to watch a game. She had a deep love for her dogs who brought an extra layer of joy to her life. They were her loyal companions, always by her side through life's ups and downs.
Her love for Christmas was unmatched. Each holiday season, Bill and Dianne transformed their home into a magical celebration of joy and togetherness, creating memories her family will treasure forever. Christmas embodied her generous and joyful spirit, which she shared freely with everyone around her.
Dianne will be remembered for her selflessness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. Her legacy lives on through her family, the many lives she touched through her work, and the countless memories we will carry in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her husband Bill Moran of Cedar Falls. Her son Nic (Luann) Moran of Cedar Falls and children Mackenzie, Johnathan, Hana, Barrett, and Emma; son-in-law Joe Silva of Cedar Falls and children, Jaxon, Bella, Ruby, and William. Her sister Tammy Dickinson (Arnie Wilcox) of Washington DC, and brother Steve Dickinson (Sandi) of Minneapolis. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Marthana Dickinson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Locke Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 31, 2025, at Prairie Lakes Church, 1907 Viking Rd., Cedar Falls, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dianne's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a charity she supported for years and was near and dear to her heart.
