Elma “Sue” Sue Durnin

Elma "Sue" Durnin, 78 of Waterloo, died Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at UPH Allen Hospital. She was born April 24, 1946, in Waterloo, daughter of Fay M. and Hazel M. (Janes) Renslow.

She married Howard Durnin on December 1, 1962. He died September 27, 2024. She was a member of Kimball Ave. United Methodist Church. Sue worked at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home (LVN) for several years. Then she worked at Thorson Enterprises as the Marketing Director for the Upper Midwest. Later, she and her sister Cassie, owned and operated D&J cleaning until they retired.

Sue is survived by her children Duane (Sharon) Durnin, DeAnna (Jeremy) Durnin-Blad, both of Waterloo and Donita "Dolly" Schults of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Duane Jr. (Talisa), Devann, Cody, Cassie (Justin), Branndon (Shelley), Chassidy, BryAnn (Conner), Christian, Alexa, and Brody; 12 great-grandchildren, Lilyonha, Laylonie, Elliena, Oliver, Hunter, Adaline, Adrian, Joey, Cayleigh, Leah, Broggan, and Remy; sister, Anne (Pat) Wesson of Marshall, TX; longtime friend, Elaine (Roger) Seamann of Waterloo; and her beloved dog, Nugget.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard; granddaughter, Bryar Sue Gaede; brothers, Donald, Robert D, and James Renslow; sisters, Beverly MacMahon, Sharon Staley, and Cassie Jackson.

Funeral Services: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave.

Burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 to7:00 PM, Monday, October 28, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park.
