Betty Ann Wexter, 93, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Friendship Village Wellspring Living, of natural causes. She was born August 7, 1931, in Forest City, daughter of Henry and Lillie (Christenson) Tiggeman.

She graduated from Rudd High School in 1949. Betty received her RN degree in 1952 from Allen College of Nursing and received her Operating Room Technology Certificate in 1953 from the Bellevue-New York University and Hospital. She married Wendell E. Wexter on April 23, 1955, in Waterloo, he preceded her in death on December 18, 2018

Betty worked in the operating room and became a supervisor in surgery until 1958. After her children were older, she worked as an office nurse in the Obstetrics and Gynecology private practice office of Dr. Vernon Plager for 18 1/2 years, retiring in 1985. She also taught pre-natal patients until her retirement.

Betty was always involved in her community and church. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, where she was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and past president for the Women of the Congregation. She was extremely involved in her children's activities while they were growing up, as a Brownie leader, Scout leader, and Scout camp nurse. She was a past president of the Allen Alumni Auxiliary board, where she also served as vice president of both membership and publicity, served on the scholarship committee, helped with blood drives and fundraising events. She was a lifetime member of the Allen Alumni Association and helped organize banquets, kept records, and volunteered for fundraisers. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, with Partners in Education, and at the Allen Hospital gift shop well into her 80's

She will be remembered for her love of people, especially family, and the greatest smile to greet everyone.

Betty is survived by her three daughters, Cindy Trepp of Waterloo, Vickie (Jerry) Nosbisch of Ionia, and Susan Wexter of Waterloo; son, Randall (Sara) Wexter of St. John, IN; 9 grandchildren: Zach (Megan) Nosbisch, New Hampton, IA; Josh (Bridget) Nosbisch, Waterloo; Katie (Preston) Mohlis, New Hampton; Stephanie (Brad) Thompson, Merritt Island, FL; Lucas Trepp, Elk Run Heights; Halligan (Matt) Lasky, Dublin, OH; Jenna (Ben) Bush, Bettendorf; Connor (Lizzy) Wexter, Harrisonburg, VA; and Michael Wexter, Los Angeles, CA; 17 great grandchildren: Preston, Isabella, Carmen, Noah, Natalie, Alexis, Amelia, Jackson, Nora, Mya, Ellie, Evelyn, Wesley, Keira and Maxie, Brynn, and Blake; and her sister-in-law Margaret Schultz, of Belvidere, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wendell, and a sister Emma "Dolly" Voss.
