Johannah “Jo” Petersen, 75, of Waterloo, died at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center on Friday, September 6, 2013 of cancer.

Mrs. Petersen was born on September 7, 1937 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, daughter of Floyd and Mary Wetzel Gunderson.

She married Clifford Chesmore, he died in 1988.

She worked for Hummel’s Restaurant until it closed and then worked as a bus driver for EPI until retiring.

She was member of member of Queen of Peace.

Mrs. Petersen is survived by a sister Janet “Jan” Pond of Waterloo, a nephew Kerry Pond, 5 nieces: Kimberly Pond, Rosemary Olson, Kelly Crooks, Susie Betts, and Sherry Heaton.

She is preceded in death by a daughter Karen Lee Mortensen, a sister Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Sommerfeld, nephew Michael Sommerfeld, and grandmother Susan “Nana” Wetzel.

Services: Her body has been cremated; interment will take place in Spooner, Wisconsin.

She was a great lady with an encouraging spirit about her and one that loved with all her heart. Family was very important to her.
