Evalyn L. Allison, age 86, of Waterloo, formerly of 1112 West 9th Street, died at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 of lung cancer.

She was born August 3, 1920 in Deep River, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Estella Dow Allison.

Evalyn graduated in 1938 from Waterloo West High School. She was a seamstress at Hinson Manufacturing for 41 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church and involved in women’s groups, volunteered at Friendship Village; and was the secretary/treasurer for Hinson Retirees.

Evalyn enjoyed canning food and doing embroidery. She took pleasure in giving her handiwork to family and friends as gifts.

Evalyn is survived by her brother Leslie and his wife Clarissa of Mesa, Arizona; brother Bill and his wife Arlene of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law David Schrock of Denver, Iowa; brother-in-law Dorrence Mesch of Lakeshore, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Dorothy Mesch and Jeanne Schrock, and a brother James Allison.
