Joyce H. Aiken, 88, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Marshalltown, died at Elizabeth E Martin Health Center of Western Home Communities Saturday, August 25, 2007, of natural causes.

She was born November 26, 1918, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, daughter of Charles M. and Hulda B. Dumke Darner. She graduated class Valedictorian from Conrad High School in 1937.

Joyce married Claude A. Aiken on January 20, 1940. They were married for 62 years when he died December 20, 2002.

She farmed with her husband in Grundy County until 1969 when they moved to Marshalltown; and then together they owned and operated South Center Service, Inc. until March 2001. Her sweet smile and pleasant ways defined her lifestyle at the Western Home.

Joyce is survived by son Michael and his wife Robyn of Marshalltown, daughter Claudia Kaestner and her husband Larry of Waterloo, five grandchildren: Michelle Kaestner, Douglas Kaestner, Amy Burger, Christopher Aiken and Aaron Aiken; six great-grandchildren: Amanda Kaestner, Jacob Burger, Sydney Burger, Andy Brown, Megan Brown, and Jadon Kaestner. She is also survived by brother Lloyd Darner of Yucca Valley, California, sister Shirley Hilderbrand of Carson City, Nevada, and brother Bob Darner of Marshalltown.

She is preceded in death by her husband and sister Francile Jones.
