Reed Ellis Roberts, 65, of Waterloo, transitioned on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at his home.

Reed was born on December 10, 1959, in Marshalltown, to Patricia Warren. He graduated from Waterloo Central High School and went on to earn his associate’s degree from Marshalltown Community College. During his teenage years, he worked at Dunn’s Grocery and during college worked at Swift Packing in Marshalltown.

Up until his untimely passing, Reed was working as a forklift operator for John Deere, where he proudly spent nearly 22 years of his career. He will be remembered by his co-workers for his humor, wit, and work ethic. Reed was a dedicated, loving father and grandfather, who cherished his time with his family. He was a very giving person and always willing to help others in life, whether it was physically or being a listening ear and voice of reason. Reed enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, kayaking, biking, lifting weights, and enjoying his life to the fullest. He was a lover of music and always had music playing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Patricia Roberts.

There is nothing more in this world Reed loved more than his daughter, RayVynn R. Schauf and his trusted sidekick and granddaughter, Luay. P.A. Schauf, both of Waterloo. Reed is also survived by his son, Daevon Morgan of Meskwaki Settlement; brother, Aaron Stacy Roberts of Waterloo; granddaughter, Luay Schauf of Waterloo; nephew, Dustin R. Roberts of Waterloo; and great nieces and nephew, Christian Amir, Ameilya Isabell, and Christina Grace Roberts all of Waterloo.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 p.m.

Inurnment to take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown.
