Lois Eleanor Morrison, 90, of Waterloo, died Friday, October 26, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital. She was born January 27, 1917, near Quasqueton in Buchanan County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank Asher and Lydia Ann Marie (Sauer) Walton. Lois graduated from Quasqueton High School. She was baptized and confirmed on January 21, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo by Rev. G. E. Melchert.
Lois worked at Black’s Department Store in the office, for Dr. Bender, and at Friedel’s Restaurant where she met her husband and then enjoyed the role of devoted wife and mother. She married Alfred “Al” A. Morrison on May 27, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church. To this union were two daughters, Linda Ann and Patricia Kay.
Lois had a strong faith in God and her church. She and Al were Charter Members of Ascension Lutheran Church. Lois loved life and found interests in many areas. She loved working in her flowers, growing annual flowers and garden vegetables from seed every spring. She loved to share seeds and plants with friends, including an article she had written about a favorite flower, Poppy’s in Flanders Field, which was published in Flower Gardening magazine. She loved to visit, receive visits and phone calls; and sending out cards for all occasions. She enjoyed making sequin calendars using her own design instead of the instructions. She also tatted various designs and put them on stationery and sold them. They were so popular with everyone that she couldn’t make them fast enough!
A fond memory was traveling to Gays Mills, Wisconsin to enjoy the fall leaves, have a picnic, and pick up apples for her apple salad, applesauce, and apple pies.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Linda and Patricia of Waterloo, and brothers, Glenn and his wife Polly of Denver, Iowa and Paul and his wife Lorraine of Davenport.
She is preceded in death by her husband Al on October 5, 1995, a sister Ardyce, a brother Grant, and two infant siblings.
