Leona M. Walters, 104, of Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center, formerly of 5221 Kimball Ave., died there on Tuesday, January 9, 2007.

She was born on November 16, 1902, in Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of George and Emma Feddersen Walters.

Ms. Walters received her Bachelors Degree in 1929 from the Iowa State Teachers College; went on to receive her Masters from the University of Iowa; and later attended the University of California in Los Angeles.

She first taught in Missouri Valley, Iowa; then taught at Grand Haven High School in Michigan, retiring in 1967, after 25 years.

Ms. Walters is survived by nephew Robert C. Walters and his wife LaVonne of Presque Isle, Maine; nephew William “Bill” B. Walters and his wife Susan of Waterloo, four great-nephews and one great-niece.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Harold Walters.
