Clara A. Smith, 89, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center died there on Friday, January 5, 2007.

She was born July 9, 1917 in Orient, South Dakota, the daughter of Edward and Aenid (Fallgatter) Smith.

Clara graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1937 and Gates Business College in 1952.

Miss Smith worked as a Clerk at Black’s Department Store. She later worked as a Secretary for the Civil Defense in Waterloo.
She was a member of First Congregational Church where she was a member of the organ guild and helped to set up the library. Clara loved music and was an accomplished organist. She was able to play organ duets with herself. She also provided musical entertainment at nursing homes. Clara was a member of Rebekah Lodge #256.

She is survived by sister Laura Brubaker of Traer, niece Vivian Emme and her husband James of Hendersonville, North Carolina, niece Rebecca Polgar and her husband Edward of Minong, Wisconsin, and nephew Randy Brubaker and his wife Mariel of Traer.

Clara is preceded in death by her parents.
