William J. “Bill” Green, 71, of Waterloo, died at Covenant Medical Center on Friday, December 29, 2006, from complications of a lengthy illness. He was born on February 3, 1935, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Paul F. and Marjorie T. (Weinshank) Green.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. On March 19, 1962, Bill married Sharon Lee Ewy in Osage, Iowa.

He worked at John Deere for 30 years and was part of the “Moving Gang Department”, retiring in 1988.

Bill is survived by his wife Sharon of Waterloo; son Scott A. Green of Waterloo and his children Travis, Zach, and Destiny; son Craig and his wife Janice Green of Austin, Minnesota, and their children Kyler and Easton; daughter Chris and her husband Mike Padden of Waterloo and their children Nikolas and Madison. He is also survived by his mother Marjorie Green of Osage and three sisters: Donna and her husband Pete Kubicek of Osage, Helen and her husband Al Rogers of Osage, and Sue and her husband Floyd Gouchee of Cedar Rapids.

He is preceded in death by his father and brother Marshal “Snerd” Green.
