Lorie Elliott Dooley, 48, of Deep Water, Missouri, formerly of Aplington, died at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics on Saturday, December 23, 2006, from complications of diabetes.

Lorie was born April 23, 1958, in Cedar Falls, daughter of James B. and Grace Kregel Elliott. She graduated from Aplington High School in 1976.

She married Sonny Dooley on September 18, 1981, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Lorie was a homemaker with many interests. She loved the outdoors, birds, enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading, painting, and lately genealogy. She was quiet, kind, happy and at peace, in spite of her health challenges.

Lorie is survived by her husband Sylvester “Sonny” Dooley of Deep Water, Missouri; mother Grace Elliott of Waterloo; stepdaughter Mindy and her husband Steve Oswald and their children Alicia and Doug; stepdaughter Amber and her husband Mike Seebeck and their children Chyanna and Emily; stepdaughter Chris and her husband Kevin Scott and their daughter Cortney; sister: Patti and her husband Steve Stockdale of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and their children Kelli (Brian) Whitney and Blake Stockdale; sister Peggy Westphalen and her sons Jacob and Joshua of Clinton; three stepbrothers: Steve and his wife Cheryl Elliott; Greg and his wife Sheila Elliott; and Jeff and his wife Beth Elliott; stepsister Kim and her husband Greg Shriver; paternal grandmother Lena Elliott; and her mastiff dog Maxwell.

She is preceded in death by her father and an infant son.
