Marcia M. Buckles, 82, of Rosewood Estate, died at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Sunday, February 22, 2009, of pulmonary fibrosis.

She was born October 11, 1926 in Belmond, Iowa, daughter of David S. and Ella Mae Smith Pierce. She graduated from Belmond High School 1944.

Marcia married Robert D. Buckles on February 28, 1947, in Waterloo. They later divorced.

She worked at Allen Memorial Hospital for 18 1/2 years, starting as an occupational therapist aide and later was a film room clerk in the X-Ray Department; she retired in 1988.

Marcia was past president of Black Hawk County Medical Auxiliary and past president of Schoitz Hospital Auxiliary and a buyer for the Schoitz Gift Shop. She enjoyed making afghans and giving them away. Marcia also sewed and cross-stitched.

Marcia is survived by son Steven R. Buckles of Waterloo; son David E. Buckles and his wife Benneth of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; daughter Carol Ann Buckles of Waterloo; three grandchildren: Lisa Marie Good and her husband Justin, Sara Ann Bush, and Cindy Lamp; three great grandchildren: Brayden, Dylan and Dallas; sister Mavis Gunderson and her husband Dean of Conyers, Georgia; brother James Pierce and his wife Iris of Worthington, Minnesota; sister-in-law Jo Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents, brother David Pierce, sister Avis Quandt, sister-in-law Barbara Pierce and nephew Terry Pierce.
