Donald C. “Tiny” Young, 70, of Waterloo, died at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics on Wednesday, September 2, 2009.

Donald Carl Young was born on December 13, 1938, at the old St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo, the son of Leonard and Geraldine (Menser) Young.

He married Marlene Burget on May 29, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Tiny worked as a fork lift driver at John Deere in shipping and receiving.

He is survived by his wife Marlene of Waterloo; three daughters: Carletta (Dale) Ginther of Hazelton, Alisa (Philip) Thomas of Waterloo, and Jean (Jerome) Wilson of Waterloo; four sons: Dion (Maxine Moore) Moore of Hazelton, Stuart (Roberta) Young of Waterloo, Brock (Suzanne) Young of Waterloo, and Jesse (Jolonna) Young of Minnesota; 38 grandchildren: Dion’s…Latasha (Chad) Cookinham, Amanda Hernandez, Larinda Moore, Derrick Moore and Dion Moore Jr. Carletta’s…Belinda (Dave) Beck, John (Kim) Beck, Josh (Joanie) Ginther, Justin Ginther and Jessica Ginther. Stuart’s…Joshua Young, Ryan Young, and Leonard Young. Alisa’s…Thomas (Audrey) Young, Nathaniel Cunningham, Bruce Thomas, and Jerome Thomas. Jean’s…Jennifer (Cory) Wilson, Tara Wilson, and Jeremiah Wilson. Brock’s…Amber Young, Derek Frieling, and Kayty Young. Jesse’s…Adam “Bo” Young, Ashley Young, Adrian Frieling, Ariel Williams, Alyssa Williams, Angelica Williams, and Alvra Williams; and 40 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Ronald (Rebecca) Young of Waterloo.

Tiny is preceded in death by a grandson, granddaughter, and great grandson; two sisters: Calla Hutchens and Connie Bjorklund; and brother Kent Young.
