Veryl Riggins, 76, of Waterloo, died on Friday, October 31, 2025, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.

He was born on October 2, 1949, in Davenport, son of Keith and Mabel “Virginia” Taylor Riggins.

Veryl graduated from La Porte City High School in 1968. He served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from 1971 to 1974.

He worked as a carpenter for the City of Waterloo Leisure Services. He was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church in La Porte City. Veryl enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

Veryl is survived by his brother, Orlin Riggins of La Porte City and nephew, Taylor (Katie) Riggins of Dysart.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 11:00 AM on Monday, November 10, 2025, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City.

Visitation: 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Locke in La Porte City, 606 E. Main Street.

Burial: Spencer Cemetery, Dysart. Military rites by: USS San Diego Post# 207, American Legion, La Porte City, IA.
