Virginia M. Bodenstein, 86, of the Western Home, formerly of 2602 Lafayette St., died Friday, May 25, at the Western Home of cancer.

She was born Jan. 22, 1915, in Waterloo, daughter of Fyrol and Merle Hull Poyner. She married Louis Bodenstein June 5, 1937, and he died Nov. 16, 1989. She then married Milton Perry Jan. 26, 1995, and he died June 24, 1995.

Mrs. Bodenstein received her education degree in 1953 and a bachelor of arts degree in 1960 from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught first and second grade in a rural country school and in Raymond, Evansdale and Waterloo for 42 years, retiring in the 1970s.

Survived by: two brothers, Robert Poyner and Cecil Poyner, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Betty Foss.
