Nikki M. Evans, 52, of Waterloo died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at Covenant Medical Center following complications of diagnostic surgery.

She was born May 23, 1949 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Merlin H. and Yvonne M. (Boardman) Meyer. She married Scott A. Evans September 12, 1981 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Nikki graduated from Columbus High School in 1967 and Pitze’s School of Cosmetology in 1968. She worked as a hair dresser at a number of salons since 1968; most recently at New Image Hair Design. She was a candidate for the City Council in 2001, a member of the Leisure Services Board, a Delegate for the Democratic party, and an advocate for a local pet cemetery.

Nikki is survived by her husband Scott of Waterloo; parents Merlin and Yvonne Meyer of Waterloo; two sisters: Heidi, and her husband Jeff Ehlers of Waterloo and Mimi Meyer and her friend Mark of Waterloo; a niece Heather and her husband Chris Wells of Waterloo.

She is preceded in death by a brother Gregory.
