Thomas R. Grimstad, 75, of 8025 Dysart Road, Waterloo, died Friday, July 16, 2004 at his home of natural causes. He was born on August 28, 1928 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Ludwig and Viola (Anderson) Grimstad.

Mr. Grimstad graduated from East High School and attended Iowa State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1949. Thomas married Lois Mae Handsaker on January 2, 1949 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She died September 12, 1992.

Mr. Grimstad retired in 1993 as an architect for Kirk Gross Company after working for several architectural firms in the area.

Thomas is survived by his three sons, Ronald Grimstad and his wife Lynn of West Bend, Wisconsin; Keith Grimstad and his wife Dawn of Dubuque, Iowa; and Alan Grimstad and his wife Candie of Waterloo, Iowa; two daughters, Karen Gerst and her husband Randy of Waterloo, Iowa, and Sharron Clement and her husband Dana of Waterloo, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Volker and her husband Burt of Waterloo, Iowa; a half-brother Bill and half-sister Carmen.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife; two brothers, Ervin and Jerry; and sister, Dorothea DeFeis.
