John Leslie Chambers

John Chambers, 82, of Waterloo, went to heaven on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. He was born December 6, 1942, in Charles City, son of John and Rebecca (Sheets) Chambers. He was raised in rural Marble Rock and graduated from Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Consolidated School District. During high school he was a member of FFA.

John married Paula (Wendel) Chambers on March 23, 1963, at the Marble Rock Methodist Church. He opened her world to kindness. John worked for White Tractor in Charles City, he then worked for John Deere in Waterloo for 41 years in assembly.

John was a faithful prayer warrior, praying for countless people in his daily prayers. He was a dedicated member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of the Cedar Valley. Everyone who met John loved him, and he would be there for anything they needed. He enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes, playing Scrabble, and had a secret soft spot for animals, including any stray brought home by Tresa. His five granddaughters held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Paula; his daughters Tammy Chambers, Tresa (John) Habinck, and Melissa (Cory) Haberstich all of Waterloo; his granddaughters Jordan Habinck, Haley (Micah) Reuscher, Grace Chambers (Matt Ernster), Addyson Haberstich, and Macy Haberstich; his sister Beverly (Terry) Mathers; and his brother Lyle (Ann) Chambers; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Allen Chambers.

Family will receive friends from 4 – 6:00PM, Monday, December 8, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, as well as one hour prior to the service which will take place at 10:30 Tuesday December 9, at the funeral home, with burial in Sunnyside Memory Gardens Cemetery in Charles City. Memorials may be directed to the APC Church of the Cedar Valley.
