Francis served our country from 1963-1966 in the U.S. Army in Hq & Hq Co 5th Battalion 33rd Armor Second. This was where he began his special talent for cooking. Francis loved to cook. At home he had a grill which is worn out especially from preparing his favorite hams. He very much enjoyed baking apple pies with his granddaughters.
He worked at Sambo’s and then Joe’s Country Grill from 1987 to 1999 and later at the Eagle Inn as a cook until retiring in 2001.
Francis was a member of the Grace Brethren Church.
He is survived by his wife Pam of Waterloo, son Robert “Bob” and his wife Amy Frickson of Waterloo, and two grandchildren: Holly and Bethany Frickson. He is also survived by a brother William “Billy” and his wife Zelma Frickson of Waterloo and three sisters: Jean and her husband LaVerne Wittenburg of Shell Rock; Joy Mooney of Cottonwood, Arizona; and Andrea Wroblewski of Waterloo.
