Jason Edward Cash “J.J.” Chandler, 45, of Waterloo, passed away December 3, 2024 surrounded by his family under hospice care at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital.

Jason was born on April 17, 1979, in Waterloo, to William E. and Teri J. (Wade) Chandler. He attended Cedar Falls High School and earned his diploma from Hawkeye. For 24 years, Jason worked as a machinist and laser operator for Iowa Laser. Jason married Carrie Christie on December 12, 2012, in Wellsburg. His love for the outdoors took him all over as he enjoyed buying vehicles, fishing, racing RC cars, having bon fires and lighting off fireworks. He had a larger-than-life personality and loved entertaining and throwing parties. Jason was an announcer for moto cross races held at Cattle Congress, New Hartford Racing, Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids, and at Oak Ridge MX track in Garwin. One of Jason’s passions was his dogs, especially rescuing them-in 2020, he and Carrie fostered and rescued Jason’s beloved Aurora Belle.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jason is survived by his wife, Carrie Chandler of Waterloo; sister, Michelle (Lee) Burkle of Urbandale; in laws, Rev. Mike and Mona Christie of Cedar Falls; brothers-in-law Seth Christie of Independence and Adam (Amanda) Christie of Cedar Falls; sister-in-law Sarah Christie of Cedar Falls; and nieces and nephews, Tessa, Ben, Ayame, Marilyn, Akio, Mason, Olivia, and Orrin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo.
