Laura Ann Winninger-Palmer

Laura Winninger-Palmer, 55, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital. She fought pancreatic cancer for nearly three years until her last breath. She was born December 6, 1968, in Milwaukee, daughter of Thomas Winninger and Ann (Kieler) Condon. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1987 and attended St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Mn.

Laura worked at the Moline and Waterloo Regional airports where she worked for an airline and fostered her love of travel. She also previously worked for Black Hawk County dispatch and the Waterloo Wastewater Plant. Most recently Laura was a realtor with Lockard Realty.

On February 28, 2020, Laura married Jeff Palmer in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Together they continued her love of travel, especially after the purchase of their motorhome in 2022. Once Laura got sick their purpose in life became experiencing as much as she could. Their last trip was at the beginning of August to California. Laura and Jeff also have a place on the river in Lansing that was her happy place. Being near the water; lakes, rivers, or oceans, was how she enjoyed spending her time, starting in her childhood at her Grandparent’s place on Clear Lake, where she learned to sail. Laura will be remembered always for her adventurous feisty spirit.

Laura leaves behind her loving husband Jeff; her sons: Brantley (Abbey) Paige and their son Kayson; Graham (Taryn Schmidt) Paige, and their children Savanna, Daelan, Cyleigh, and Leylah; Jacob (Samantha) Paige and their children Carver, Airianna, and Beckett; her stepdaughters: Amber Palmer and Haylee (Patrick) Healy and their children Harper, Niamh, Adler, Saylor, and Alexis; a bonus daughter Hannah Quick; her mom Ann Condon of Waterloo; step-mother Lynne Winninger of Edina, Mn; her siblings: Benjamin (Dana) Winninger of Waterloo, Sara Lopez of Rochester, Mn, Virginia (Mike) Ogle of Edina, Mn, Katherine (Stefan) Smith of Edina, Nicholas (Alexandra) Winninger of Richfield, Mn, and Alexander (Mary) Winninger of Minneapolis; twelve nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs Tuck and Tilly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Winninger, her stepfather Brad Condon, and her grandparents.
