Gary Engelhardt, 60, of Waterloo, formerly of Chester, Iowa and Sacramento, California, died at his home on Wednesday, October 10, 2007.

He was born January 30, 1947, in Riceville, Iowa son of Howard and Marcella Kurash Engelhardt. Gary completed elementary school in Riceville, and then Junior High School in Waterloo.

He married Linda Biby in Sacramento, California, and they had two children; they later divorced. He married Brenda Schneider in Sacramento, California, and they had a child; they later divorced.

Gary was adept in many trades but was best known for his mechanical abilities. Most recently, he helped build the Tyson Fresh Meat plant in Waterloo. He enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities when he was physically able and especially followed NASCAR racing.

He is survived by son Gary Engelhardt of California, daughter Lisa Engelhardt of Las Vegas, Nevada, sister Clara Niemeyer of Waterloo, and brother Raymond Engelhardt of Lincoln, California.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Stacy.
