Sandra Jane Wersinger

Sandra Jane Wersinger, 80, of Waterloo, IA, formerly of New Hampton, IA, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Mercy One-Waterloo.

Sandy was born on May 14, 1945, in Tripoli, to William E. and Elizabeth (Maurer) Beach. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1964. While in High School, Sandy enjoyed being part of the dance troop in High School.

Sandy married Lucian “Lup” Wersinger on August 12, 1974, in Cedar Falls and they resided in Waterloo. Lup preceded her in death on December 13, 1982.

She worked for Waterloo Industries as an assembly line worker for 16 years. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in New Hampton. Sandy was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She provided care for her grandson, Alex, while Melody finished her college degree and ROTC. She also cared for her own grandmother, Elizabeth, in her elder years.

She is also preceded in death by her father, Bill, infant brother, Francis A. Beach, and great-grandson, Crew Hoffer.

Sandy is survived by her mother, Betty Beach of New Hampton; daughter, Melody (Mike) Charles of Lexington, SC; siblings, Kathy Hathaway, Bill (Elaine) Beach, Jr., Steve (Cathy) Beach, Tim (LuAnn) Beach, and Scott (Tami) Beach; grandchildren, Alex (Kaitlin) Hoffer of Jesup, Jacob Charles of Charleston, SC, and Jonah Charles of Lexington, SC; great-grandchildren, Asher, Rowan, Memphis, Westen, Sawyer, and Hendrix; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo. Private inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery-Cedar Falls.
