Delores A. Day, 82, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

Delores Ann was born December 23, 1928 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Julius and Clara Hagestad Thompson. She was confirmed at Trinity American Lutheran Church and had attended Waterloo West High School.

Delores met Charles “Charlie” E. Day roller skating and they were married May 26, 1945 in Independence, Iowa. He died March 19, 2005.

She was a bookkeeper for Northland Oil and also manager of the Ladies Department at the University Avenue K Mart.

Delores was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. Delores enjoyed bowling and camping with her family. She loved to play cards, especially 500 and Hearts. She enjoyed time spent fishing in Minnesota and playing the nickel slots.

She is survived by her son Larry (Kay) Day of Clear Lake, daughter‑in‑law Vickie Day of Waterloo, four grandchildren: Corey (Ann) Day, Mindy (Clint) Day-Hodges, Troy Day and Shannon Day; three step grandchildren: Wayne (Butch) Venzke, Deanna (Tony) Ruiz, and Jay (Molly) Venzke; 2 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. Delores is also survived by her sisters: Patricia (Homer) Bienfang of Clear Lake, Ruth (Bill) McFadden of Cedar Falls, and Charlotte (Jack) Buchan of Oklahoma.

Delores is preceded in death by her husband, son Tim, and brother Dwayne Thompson.
